It is Tuesday. And we’re off.
Peter Rowan – The Free Mexican Airforce – Here it is, the great vibe check of all vibe checks.
Greensky Bluegrass – Hoxeyville – Early, early, early Greensky. There’s no words in this, but I’ve personally seen about half the people on this email list dance to this song after a few.
Greensky Bluegrass – Roberta This one too.
Joe Cocker – With a Little Help From My Friends (Woodstock, 1969) – A reminder to lean on the buddies and this will eventually end and we’ll all party in fields again. (tip of the hat to Sara Levine on this one)
Kaleo – Automobile Hailing from Iceland, Kaleo was built for the Coachella stage, and got pretty big after their 2017 set at the desert music festival. They’re finally starting to come out with some new music after a couple year hiatus, but their entire “A/B” album is worth a listen.
John Prine – Fish and Whistle Hearing reports that ol’ buddy John Prine is in stable condition after a Corona scare. We’ll keep listening in the meantime.
Sturgill Simpson – Turtles All the Way Down The opening song off of Sturgill’s “Metamodern Sounds in Country Music”. Built on the old theory that the planet is sitting on the backs of a tall, never-ending stack of turtles, or alternatively, that even with all the facts in the world, there will be people that don’t believe you and think the world sits on the backs of turtles. This is definitively not about beers and trucks and fishing.
Vulfpeck – 1612 Listen to Vulfpeck. You’ll be glad you did.
Bob Weir & Grace Potter – Friend of the Devil (Merriweather Post Pavillion, MD, 2015) – An amazing cover at 2015’s “Dear Jerry” concert in Maryland. Grace Potter is from Waitsfield, VT and knows the Mad Taco bar section pretty well.
Dead & Company feat. Maggie Rogers – Friend of the Devil (11/01/19, MSG) – Not that it’s a competition but this is Maggie Rogers singing Friend of the Devil a few months back with Dead & Co. where she blew the roof off the place.
Billy Strings – Freedom (9/27/19, Portland, OR) – The first time anyone heard the song Freeom played live by the band. The album dropped about 30 minutes later. Gave me goosebumps when I heard this as the encore when the show was uploaded to the interwebs on 9/28. Truly truly truly could not possible like this song any more than I do.
