WANTED: A Fair Fishing Relationship
Fishing is a complex relationship. I spend almost all of my fishing time chasing around fish that won’t even give me the time of day. I dress myself up nice (tie on pretty fly’s), give them their space when they need it (mid-day), and spend all my money trying to make them as happy as possible (because the reel was the problem), but every now and then would it kill them to pursue ME? Yes, but that’s not the point.
The point is that this is a toxic relationship I’m in here. The interest is almost exclusively one-sided yet they continue to string me on. Here I am, waist deep in some pretty cold water, and they won’t even feign interest towards the Caddis fly I’m basically spoon-feeding them. All I’m asking for is a fair relationship where mutual interest is clearly shown by both parties. One day, enough will be enough and I’ll move on.
However, today is not that day and tomorrow isn’t looking great either. Actually, the fishing report at my local stream looks pretty hot so probably not this month either. But one day!
